2. Data Logging When Visiting Our Website

2.1 General
When you visit our website for information purposes (i.e., not for registration or to make contact), the following information is automatically transmitted by your browser to our server:

When you enter into contact with us by email or by using the contact form of our website, we receive the following information:

    The supply of your data is voluntary. However, we can process your enquiry only if you submit your name, email address and the reason for your enquiry.

    2.3 Recipient
    The recipients of the data may be technical service providers who are responsible for the operation and maintenance of our website as data processors. They are carefully vetted and commissioned by us, are subject to our right of instruction and regularly re-examined.

    Your data are also processed at our head office in Japan, i.e. outside the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA). In Japan, the Adequacy Decision of the European Commission applies and your data enjoy a level of protection comparable to European data protection regulations.

    2.4 Storage Period
    The data are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for the purpose for which they were collected. This is essentially the case with data needed to display a webpage when the session is terminated.

    3. Cookies

    3.1 General
    Our webpages use cookies. Cookies are small text files that can be stored and read out on your terminal device. A distinction is made between session cookies which are deleted as soon as you close your browser and permanent cookies which are stored beyond the individual session.       Your data is solely being used to be able to send you the newsletter subscription via e-mail. We require you to give us your name so we can personally address you in the newsletter and to if necessary identify you, in the case you want to make use of your rights as data subject. Subscribers may be informed via e-mail about topics of relevance for the service or registration.

      For an effective registration we need a valid e-mail address. We utilize the “double-opt-in”- system to review the e-mail. Legal basis for our action is your explicitly expressed consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).

      Consent for the storage of personal data can be revoked at any time with future effect. A link will be placed in every newsletter. In addition to this, you can unsubscribe on our website or inform us on your revocation directly via the contact data given in this policy.

      Recipients of the data may be order processors.

      5. Use of Google Analytics

      This website employs Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 USA (hereafter: “Google“). Google Analytics uses cookies that are stored on your PC and allow analysing your use of the webpage. As a rule, the information collected by the Google Analytics on your webpage use are transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Due to the activation of IP anonymization, your IP address is however first truncated within member states of the EU or other countries of the EEA.       Google Analytics:

      The purpose of data processing is to evaluate the use of the website and to compile reports on website activities carried out there. On the basis of website and internet use, further associated services are then to be provided.

      The data are processed on the basis of user consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR).

      The recipient of the data is Google as the data processor. For this purpose, we have signed a corresponding data processing agreement with Google.

      The data are deleted as soon as they are no longer required for our recording purposes.

      6. Use of other web analysis services

      This website uses Eloqua, Webalizer and AWStats, that are open source software for statistical evaluation of visitor access. The web analysis services collect data about the behaviour of visitors of the website, e.g. from which website the visitor came to the current page and how often which page of the website was accessed. Webalizer and AWStats do not use cookies, but only process the data in the access log.

      We use web analysis services in order to improve or optimize our offer and operation of the website. The data of the visitors collected for analysis purposes is anonymized. It is not possible to identify the visitors with the data. The processing of the data takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

      The data will be deleted after the following period:

      Webalizer: One month after the session
      AWAStats: As soon as they are no longer required for our recording purposes.

      7. SSL Encryption

      To protect your data during transmission, we employ state-of-the-art encryption processes using the latest technology (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.

      8. Data processor

      We outsource certain parts of data processing to “Symphony Marketing Co., Ltd.”. We have a written data processing agreement with “Symphony Marketing Co., Ltd.” according to Art. 28 (3) GDPR.

      9. Data controller

      We share parts of data to "Showa Denko Europe GmbH" which is our group company. We have a written joint controller agreement with "Showa Denko Europe GmbH" according to Art. 13 (1) GDPR.

      10. Changes to Our Data Processing Regulations

      We reserve the right to adjust this Privacy Policy to ensure that it meets current legal requirements at all times or to have the Privacy Policy reflect changes to our services, e.g. when introducing new services. A repeat visit is then subject to the new Data Protection Statement.
